I wonder what crazy fairytale that's supposed to depict...??... And why a group of people would want to kill a bunny begging for its life?

Hehe.... Interesting find =)

Someone hearing it rustle at night and thinking the long-eared rodent is a mighty dragon of course....
It's a regional/ethnic slur or extended joke about germans from the south-west that was indeed picked up by the brothers Grimm.

The native swabians seem to think it's a great marketing plot and toy with it. There are many better hotels and restaurants for regional fare named "Sieben Schwaben". ;o)

In the past, the Grimms triggered fantasy and exaggeration; Today we have the social media to do the same. To be sensitive to rumours is not a swabian privilige.

After the whole tale (much older than the Grimms, Kirchhof already wrote down a version in the 1550s) , the swabians are not only a cowardly and miserly bunch but also feeling extremely clever and resourceful whilst being rather dimwitted. Of course, there is no people in the world that fits such a description as a whole, or it would have gone extinct since... ;o)

It is still not that easy to even define a swabian as such locally. To some of the german speaking swiss populace "Schwab" means everyone speaking german that lives further north and outside the alps, much like the austrian concept of a "Piefke"and the bavarian of a "Preiss".

For an other theory mostly heared in swabia, the only genetically pure offspring of the 7 is a certain political expat in bruxelles whose name starts with an umlaut-- LOL

Oh my goodness: expats in Bruxelles ... don't talk about them!
