Yellow House, MTU / Gelbes Haus, MTU
Not sure about it's status as historic building, but that the star did not vanish after Daimler-Chrysler stopped to be involved at all suggests there is some kind of arcitectural merrits recognition... |

Not a particularly nice building in terms of architectural design.... But a great capture =)
Daimler-Chrysler owned Mercedes last (that was the Daimler in the name, from Daimler-Benz AG) and at the same time they owned MTU (Maybach), it got into that monster corporation along with the Mercedes fusion as they had bought Maybach first... and that was not even the complicated part.
Almost all original possession of MTU went to some company named Tognum rather recently, as far as I know all but the Maybach original Logo Daimler still holds the copyright for and once in a while builds some limited number super-luxury concept cars with that name nobody famous who can afford a Rolls Royce or two seems to show enough interest in to make it a widely known brand again. But on this poor old house they put their mainstream status symbol logo, the Mercedes Star as soon as they ate Maybach.
When Daimler belonged to Chrysler, of course Mercedes stayed it's own brand. The star on the roof was not touched.
A few years back when fusions where sorted anew, somone said the huge Mercedes star on the MTU might be dismounted and a few did throw a real fit for some cause. And the star did stay but I find no info how this came to pass and who ordered it to humour whom....
So it's somewhat outdated but not the original brand -- that would be Maybach.

Of couse, this site has seen far more history. MTU started Nato Tank Production in the 60's here, and before the cute little red Porsche Traktors got produced here as well..... so actually the Mercedes star is limiting it all sort of and the great tradition of it beyond my understanding. Perhaps it is something about boating tourists and ferry comuters enjoying it as a landmark for a few decades already.
