Just a record shooting in a narrow upper floor hallway of a hotel. Our room during the stay was not far from this cabinet to the right and I was intrigued about the antiquity with the latin writing on the vases in the lower panels, that is very obvious no fake rural style deco thing, but also not very restored for show, still in regular dayly use as it hosts things like spare pillows and blankets and I observed a chambermaid open and close it again without a special reverence.
The shot could be better, so much is clear, but I was reluctant to set up there for long exposure and so just took my chances, taking quick flash and high ISO versions hoping for the best.

Yes, it is beautiful, but it is also a bit surprising, with text from a greek pre-christian writer in latin translation on the rather exotic vases below the sacred heart symbols. :o)

I think that when made it would have represented the craftsman's pride and joy. And rightly so!
