The guy who ordered the artwork was a local emigrant who lived most of his life in america but went home to visit 12 times, the last time he would die during the visit through a heart attack. Amzing for the time -- he must have lived the american dream rather well, to afford all this traveling back to his roots before 1925, jet felt attached to his birthplace. / Die Geschichte ist gut leserlich in der grossen Version des Bildes, faszinierend wenn manbedenk, was die Reisen damals kosteteten, auch an Zeit. Arm kann er nicht gewesen sein, aber offenbar immer noch mehr im Geburtsort integriert als der durchschnittliche erfolgreiche Auswanderer. |
