2004 Leeds Armouries
A trip to the Royal Armouries Leeds
was arranged for the RSA Liverpool branch members By Steve Brisk. Attending were: Jim Carruthers, Alan Heritage, Ron Price, Henry Wynn, Frank Conlan, Steve Brisk and Joe Brougham. The day started with a quick ride up the M62 in a mini-bus provided by Henry Wyyn and ably driven by our Driver for the day Dave Nickson. Frank Conlan must have been 'Scrumping' last night as he provided a bag full of apples, we didn't have enough 'time' to brew up a Scrumpy. On the itinerary for the day (amongst other attractions and stands) were 'interpretations' of:- Moby Dick 1819, a whaler tells the story of the wreck of the 'Essex'. The day was a very enjoyable day out and our thanks must go to the Royal Armouries Leeds for their hospitality. We will not forget one of the horses; aptly named "Messenger". Who during the jousting competition became a little frisky this consequently cost him the competition; maybe it was because he was in the company of so many ex-professional "Messengers"... Yet another good time was had by all.
