A beautiful sunrise over the Verrazano Narrows in New York Harbor. The shot was taken from historic Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. The Verrazano Narrows Bridge connects that NYC borough to the borough of Brooklyn.

Wow, nice! Othmar Amman, the guy who built that bridge, grew up on the swiss shore of Lake Constance, worked as an intern on one of the first suspension bridges ever when he was a lad learning to be an architect. That bridge was across the comperably little river Argen in Langenargen, mere hiking distance to my flat. They call it the "Little Golden Gate" in honour to him now, but it fact he only was an advisor at Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, his greatest own independant work was the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, it's just that this bridge is virtually unknown to any germans that are not especially into modern architecture for some cause, as opposed to Golden Gate Bridge. So I am always especially happy to find a great looking shot of Verrazano Narrows Bridge online.
