what kind of constrution is this? Via Sacra? a sacred place?

@Martina: You can see here, from above, what is in the picture.

"The Stations of the Cross or the Way of the Cross, also known as the Way of Sorrows or the Via Crucis, refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers." (from Wikipedia).

You can see that on every turn of the way there is a small niche that corresponds to a station of the Via Crucis. This Via Crucis is associated to a small sanctuary, devoted to Sta. Eufemia, in the North of Portugal, not far from Porto.

thank you for the information, dear MickPt! Now the pic makes sense to me....in Portugal I only visited Lisbon once in 2018, I guess it would be a great country to travel around and learn more about people and culture :-)
