Memory capsule butterfly
Contributed by Angela Mary Bhana I live on Lamma Island and like to walk and take photographs of nature when time permits. Some parts of Yung Shu Wan have changed with new development during the time I have lived there. A few years ago I strolled up a path way above the coast where below was Jacksons beach. I came to a small old abandoned house in front of which was a pink flowered hibiscus bush. On a branch I saw a very large and lovely butterfly at rest. It was a very delicate pale green in colour and measured at least 12 cms. I have never seen another butterfly like that again. Nor have I been able to identify it from any butterfly books. It was thrilling to be able to capture its image in a photograph. Jacksons beach has since disappeared to reclamation and is part of a sea wall. |
