a small stream in switzerland. the next day it rained so much, it probably became a descent river.

the shot was taken handheld with a shutter speed of 1/4!

Like it. Steady hand and good image stabilizer :)

Yeah, steady hand! I'm taking 1/8 at best :(
Beautiful stream, great photo.

IS probably did help a lot, i didn't try it without. also i was sitting really stable with my arm set on my leg and breathing really controlled. A shutter-delay of 2sec helped to not get the shake of the release-button on the picture. Using a wide angle lens can push the shutter speed to the limit =)
....but really, 1/8th wouldn't have made a difference at all!
@Dorota, i imagine you did all that, otherwise 1/8 would have been a really tough call. But i noticed in your latest Picture

that you used a 35mm (equiv.) lens. So with a wider lens you would easy be able to push it some more, my picture was taken with 28mm (equiv.), also i tried it with 18mm (equiv.) and got an even slower shutter speed....i wonder what would be possible with a fisheye?

to compare, i uploaded a 9mm (18mm equiv.) version, so for the same picture severe cropping was used.

Disadvantage printing, but the shake can be judged better since we are closer to a 100% crop now.

Thank you Lutz for explaining the technique. Next time I'll try wider lens.
And yes - controlled breathing and stable position is a must when taking a tripod is not an option.
