Fu Hang is the most famous and popular Taiwanese breakfast place in Taipei. It has been around since 1958 and all the locals know about it. It is so popular that there are always lines running outside of the restaurant, down the stairs to the first floor, and sometimes outside. They have a small traditional Taiwanese breakfast menu and work fast so the line keeps flowing.
I have found that usually popular restaurants in Taipei don't offer the best food in their class, but Fu Hang is an exception. Although you can find some other breakfast places that make just as good or better eats pertaining to your personal taste buds. However, their fresh breads that you can see them preparing while waiting in line are definitely some of the best that I've tasted in Taipei. Their salty milk soup is good, but not the best that I've had. A big thing that bothered me is that they don't have hot sauce. I always add hot sauce to my bread and milk soup and found it very odd that they didn't offer it. That is the only thing that stops me from craving their food, not to mention the long lines. I do believe that it is a must visit while in Taipei. Bring your own homemade hot sauce with you if you like it spicy and it will be delicious.
