Kealia Pond Boardwalk, Kihei Maui, James Brennan Molokai Hawaii
This 2,200-foot boardwalk and kiosk with self-guided interpretive exhibits provides tourists an opportunity to learn about the many native and visiting birds that visit the wetlands. Two of Hawai‘i's endangered water birds, the Hawaiian coot and Hawaiian stilt, can be seen here. Across the highway, you can see Keālia Pond NWR where waterfowl from Asia and North America come for food and rest and warmer climate. Kealia Pond is part of the National Wildlife Refuge System within the US Fish and Wildlife Services. NWRS manages a national network of lands and waters set aside to conserve America’s fish, wildlife and plants.
