Terracotta Bell-Krater (mixing bowl) Greek, South Italian, Apulian, red-figure, ca 410-390 BC Attributed to the Tarporley Painter Dionysos and Pan The Tarporley Painter belongs to the second generation of Apulian vase-painters and seemd to have begun his career working closely with a Lucanian artist. The relativelt early work shows the wine go-god Dionysos holding a theatrical mask in his left hand. Oppostite him, an adolescant Pan (a mythological being with a goat ears and horns) fills a jus from a decorated bell-krater.
