The National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC is a great museum if you want a political history of Native Americans. If, on the other hand, your interested in Native American history, art and culture, come to Phoenix and visit the Heard Museum. Magnificent displays of art and culture from tribes throughout the Southwest are on display, along with rotating samples of art from other regions. The Barry Goldwater Gallery of Kachina dolls is worth the visit all on it's own.
