Everyone comes for the mummies (in a cramped, overcrowded series of galleries that ban photography because of the crowds), but the cornerstone of the collection is the Rosetta Stone. Napoleon's troops literally tripped upon it during the Egyptian campaign, then the British grabbed it as a spoil of war. Like the Elgin Marbles, there is much controversy surrounding the collection, but leave politics aside and enjoy some of the best Ancient Egypt has to offer.
