Used to watch the Aussie cricket teams come and go from here (late 70s). I was a student at a college on another side of the square.

It is a magnificent building. Can't think where your college was.

Yes I read about it.
College was The School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies (SSEES), once associated with King's and now part of University College. It was a separate entity when I was there and it was based in Russell Square (21-23, if I remember rightly) and on a floor of Senate House.

It has long gone from Russell Square and is now fully merged with U.C. I don't know what year it ceased to be an independent entity.
