A very nice sunset shot! Looks like the water body pulls up a nice orange and gray blanket to sleep below. Hopefully it means not rain the next day....

We had plenty of rain that year. This is a meadow still waterlogged in summer, after the previous floods of November 2011.

No, that's how it's meant to be. Port Meadow is the flood plain for the River Thames (far distance) and takes the excess water. Better that it floods the meadow than floods the towns.
