I wonder if the name 'punt' means the same as the dutch 'punter' ; see o.a. my album "Giethoorn & Dwarsgracht"

Similar, but here used mainly for recreation - a tradition at Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Nice boats, although only the two blue ones look like suited for for romantic joyrides.
It's interesting with the Dutch similarity. "Punt"on the upper Rhine is sometimes the name of bridges. I think that's a special swiss word that shares roots with the french "pont", but boats we do not call punt ever anywhere in the southern parts of the german speaking world.

We only use 'punt' for this type of flat-bottomed boat that is propelled with a pole.
