Good enough to eat! Apparently blackberries ripen at different times to maximise their chances of dispersal - if they were all ripe at the same time, a single animal would eat them all, but by ripening in sequence they guarantee that more animals will take on the task of dispersal!

The nature i smart, indeed! I think we can see the same thing at, for example, the birch. They come very different in spring and they loose there leafs in very different times in autumn (ahh you understand...). 8))
