That is the only island outside our coast. For a long, long time ago they thought is was the end of the world. It´s called Tylön (Ultima thule).

So they thought the end of the world was half-way between two coastlines? You took this from one side, and there's more land on the other side, so this seems a strange belief! :)

Good point. But if you go to the west (right in the picture) it´s open sea. But some 100 kilometers away you will find Denmark (Jylland), and if you go on you will find your own homecountry. It was a greek geographer (forgotten the name) that assumed it. But it was a long, long time ago... As you know, there is a Thule located in Greenland, which seems more natural. And we know that there is no end of the world - or perhaps there is...? In another way.
But it is an old and exiting story.
