Yesterday I replaced six frequently used lightbulbs (in the dining room) with compact fluorescent. 6x7W instead of 6x25W, and they're 40W equivalents. And no, it's not as dark as it looks in the photo!
Personally I'd like it better if the bulbs didn't have so much stuff written on them. Looks too industrial this way.
The vine is growing happily. :)

hm .. searching for "remove lightbulb lettering" in various combinations and replacing terms [remove to erase, lettering to writing] brings up lots of posts about removing broken lightbulbs with potatoes, and nothing about washing off the words.

potato lights are the future

my preferred method for removing printed ink is to gently rub it with the edge of a razor blade, followed by a soft eraser and perhaps a bit of methanol-based cleaning fluid.

Incandescent potatos have always been an option, if rather messy.
I'm holding out for the much awaited Compact Bioluminescent Potatos.
