@Sonja.... The native Turk's Cap Lilies are sort of similar, but have a much shorter bloom time and don't grow in such large communal clumps.... They also tend to grow in woodlands rather than along the edges as they require more shade. These Ditch Lilies grow in astounding numbers.... There are stretches of protected land along roadways in this area where the lilies turn the roadside orange for more than a mile at a stretch. You'll never find that with the native Turk's Cap Lilies. These Ditch Lilies, the native Ox-Eye Daisies, & native Chicory are the most prolific and showy bloomers in this part of PA. And when you run across a "patch" of ground where they all grow alongside one another with blossoms intermingling it's a show you won't soon forget =)
