Stark Reality of Modern Apartment Life
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Long Island City, Queens, NYC, NY.
High definition photo…

✍ This part of the borough of Queens, just across the East River from midtown Manhattan, has seen a building boom in the past five years or so. Building after building has gone up mostly right next to the Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge & all of them glass monstrosities like this one. They have turned the on-ramp to the bridge into a canyon with glass walls --- very eery and creepy to drive through what feels like people's living rooms to get onto the bridge's span.... I don't understand why people would want to live in these ugly buildings with 24hrs. of non-stop traffic and noise due to the very heavily used bridge --- not to mention that opening a window would let in more pollution than fresh air (I don't think there is any such thing as fresh air in this area, actually). Don't think the rents are cheap either -- for the privilege of living in these cramped fish bowls, expect to pay no less than $2000/mo. So, there you have it.... Modern living..... Tempting, isn't it? LOL!
