The "Ghost Ship"
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The New Museum of Contemporary Art : Eisenberg and Feinstein Building, 235 Bowery, Manhattan, NYC, NY. Full spectrum color photo… ✍ The boat installation on the façade of the building caught my attention -- it's unusual, not a permanent installation, and, oh yeah, it's unusual ;) The 30-foot handmade self-navigating sailboat/yacht, called the "Ghost Ship", was installed as part of a building-wide exhibition of artist Chris Burden's work. It was suspended on the front façade of the museum four stories above street level. ✎ This newest building of The New Museum of Contemporary Art opened its doors in 2007 and was named one of the architectural New Seven Wonders of the World by Conde Nast Traveler in 2008. |
