✎ St. Vincent Ferrer was founded and is still run by the Dominican Order. Constructed between 1914-1916 to the design of Bertrand Grosvenor Goodhue in 14th Century French Gothic with echoes of Norman Romanesque style. The exterior of the church is constructed of random ashlar & trimmed with dressed limestone, & the church's roof is covered in copper. The church was originally planned to have a 15 story steeple, however, construction became too difficult to build it to plan. An ancient canal that passed under the site, as well as the construction of subway tunnels down Lexington Ave. made it impossible to lay the foundation to original plans.
