For those interested this is a Jersey calf (mostly) which is about four hours old in this picture! I used this picture as a chance to learn to use the unsharp mask and Gaussian blur filters.

Good idea, but to be serious, I think You've overdone it a bit.

I agree that this image is 'overdone'. I really was just playing around with the tools and not really concerned about the resulting image. When it was done a couple of my friends liked it so I thought I might as well post it here and see if anyone else liked it as well.

I hadn't thought of redoing it / doing another. I was just playing around and not seriously trying to make a nice picture but maybe I should. I like the eye in the center -- I know it is a bit dramatic but it is also fun. I like the idea of focused/blurred areas as well as the grey/coloured idea too. I think I would just dial things back a bit and do a nicer crop. What would you change about this image?

I have to say this is pretty neat having other people comment on my pictures -- it really does motivate me to do more!
