My mom was attacked by one of these buggers when the squirrel habituated to her feeding it (against my advice) got ticked off when she had the audacity to walk out the back door with food for the cats and didn't give him anything.... He watched and watched from the trunk of the Magnolia in the backyard, until it became clear he wasn't going to get anything and then launched himself right at her face. Moral of the tale -- not an isolated incident either --- is that squirrels too habituated to people can actually be dangerous.
