Although the judges, here, don't seem to value portraits, in general, I think this may be the best portrait I have ever taken. Through the accident of one overhead light slightly to one side of Ilana's head, the effect is superb. (brilliant, one might say.) I didn't do it. I just intuitively recognized superior lighting and started snapping. Being that she is used to me with the camera in my face, her mood or demeanor didn't change an iota. As nobody else has recognized my best portrait, I feel justified in favoriting it, myself. Thank you Ilana. Most of the credit goes to you.

True, mramshaw. I guess the purpose of a portrait is to reveal the essence of the subject. A stranger would have little means of knowing if that was accomplished. Thank you for commenting.
