I had the idea weeks ago, and have just been waiting for her to show up.
She was about 5 inches long! I had to cajole my wife into holding the banana.

So this is indeed a banana on which it slugs about! LOL

I am glad your wife does not mind to play with a slug. Most other gals I know are horrified or disgusted when they see one in their yard. But then our backyard slugs here are not that pretty coloured of course...

I was surprised she did it for me too, but she knows how much pleasure this hobby brings me. And she enjoys the creative levity, as well, but she did make me agree to eat that banana, when we were done, so she wouldn't have to touch it.

LOL! I do not like to cuddle with slugs or eat anything they glazed over, at least not before scrubbing it, but I am not into setting beer traps or salting the poor things just for entering the garden. I collect them and the snails too with a rubber glove and walk them to a wet plot of semi-public land where I unload the lot of them into the shrubbery. And sometimes I take pics, but not very often. ;o)

Makes for a great shot.... BUT.... Icky slug! When the front yard had a lawn, I'd find monstrous 4-6" long slugs --- and I didn't appreciate the chewed up ornamental plants either..... Disgusting, slimy, black things -- especially after a good rainstorm of a summer night, when one can easily step on one accidentally on the front walkway.... I know some people like these things, but, nooooo thank you says my garden.

Still a nice shot and nicely colored slimeball.... Y'all can have 'em, though.... LOL!

Here on the Central Coast of California, the University of California kids have mad the Banana Slug their school mascot. We have seen enough artwork based on this over the years, that has helped folks, here, think of them as cute, instead of yucky. It's been a long road to acceptance for the poor banana slug, but I hear one is running for governor next term.

I guess slugs and politicians have lots in common ;) Though, I think on the whole, politicians are still in the lead in the slimeball category =P

Oh, the poor slugs! :o(
They will feel very misstreated, getting compared with politicians. They are honest little animals, do not slime more or less because of the time until the next elections and they do never pretend to have a spinal cord either.

Thank you for speaking up for them, Sinja. I am howling with laughter! What a clever comment!
