Neither my ability with words nor my meager photographic equipment can come close to conveying the overwhelming enormity of the number of ladybugs here this year. This shot only covers about 18 inches of 4 foot long gathering! It's been about ten years since we've had this many. I'll post several more photos but you just could never really comprehend the full impact of their presence without visiting me in Santa Cruz. Bring wide angle lenses!

Hi Helen. If I considered myself a photographer, I would never post a similar picture twice. I don't. I'm just a guy who needs a creative outlet. I used to do lots of creative stuff but my life is really busy with other stuff now, so I try to grab pictures of things that make me go wow. The ladies are a major part of my life. I have to step over them every day to keep from killing them. One year, there were so many of them covering the street that we almost couldn't make it out to the cars. Like the rest of the creatures, I love them and consider them my friends. It's hard not to post lots of pictures of them. Like a mother loves her kids. Some of the photos might be good, some not so good. I'm just sharing my life.
