Too pretty to eat! Wow =D Mouthwatering though it is..... ;)

Very interesting and festive, lots of pretty flowers -- but they do not look like they got candied for preserving as eatable cake topper or being just a sculpted fondant fake but like staight from the garden... How did she do this? And is bracket fern not only eatable when it is a.) still furled and b.) cooked until unsightly?

How unusual, but perhaps not all that bad of an idea! In germany only few people buy little sculptures of bride and groom or a couple of toy critters like two doves or white peafowl as topper for the big formal wedding cake the couple cuts together. It's otherwise usually expected that all cake deco is eatable and would be impolite to pluck away before eating. You can buy roses made all of candy but those of the artesian bakery are very pricey and the packaged ones from the baking goods aisle look just plain stupid, and then there are the tutorials for fondant sculpting and for sugarcoating real flowers that are not poisonous. When my last niece was to get married, one relative had the idea to make a fancy bisquit roll for the cake buffet with candied white roses and some candied red oakshaped leaf lettuce from the garden and candied violets bought ready from a french online seller for fine foods which where particulary delicious. It did not look half as imposing as your flower arrangement but it was almost all true food with very interesting flavours -- all but the roses bottoms and corollas left on only for the handling and keeping the shape of course. Unfortunately, one guest ate a rose with the whole of the bottom and then secretly told other people who had of this cream roll too that her rose was not so yummy and awfully though annd if theirs where so too.... I told her I naturally supposed it is just like eating a trout or a rotserie chicken where you are not expected to eat all the bones either so left my rose bottom discretely in the paper napkin to dispose of it, but she felt there should have been a warning of sorts as she opined she would be not a goat. Oh, well... LOL
