NWN was one of the best games I've ever played... I was looking forward to buy the second part but the high price and the bad critics made me think again. Can you tell me if it does pay the pain? (the bills, in fact ;-))

Actually I have no idea about how the situation is now. After trying for a while to cope with the problems NWN2 had back then, I put it on the shelf and couldn't yet be bothered to take another look. Maybe there have been patches or updates, maybe not. Your best bet would probably be to find a second hand copy, get up to speed on the patches, and give it a try...

I'm afraid that's what the current situation with most commercial software is - don't buy what you like on release, but wait a year or two until they have fixed it to be usable. It seems it will take quite a few more cases of bankruptcy until the software industry will understand this, if ever... but then, the customers are to blame just as well.
