Eros and Psyche
Displayed in the Villa, this sculpture by Antonio Tadolini, one of the best of Canova's scholars. It is a replica taken from the original model of Antonio Canova of the sculpture commissioned by the Russian prince Yussupoff (today at the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg). Made from a block of Carrara marble of exceptional beauty, this sculpture arrived in Tremezzo in 1834. It is a beautiful piece and shown to great effect here. The textures are real. There are other sculptures but photography was not really allowed, so I respected that. |
