Waterloo Place - Downing Street
Another protest March in central London. Same cause, same place, same weekday. Saturday 6/2/2016. After lots of premium style smearing and spinning in the media, and of course last but not least framing and twisting of data just as one (or one and his supporters in the DoH) pleases, one day of strike, two cancelled strike days and more negotiations.
Negotiations breaking down, though I am not sure about the success chances of negotiations that started with one party affirming they would be enforcing what they want anyway regardless of the outcome of said negotiatons. Support from nurses, student nurses, patients, the political left, an academic and author of "How to read a paper", a choir, two Westwoods and a few actors - all in their capacity as thinking individuals, citizens and patients. And, yes, we ARE able to understand what a contract and in particular what this contract means, what negotiations (usually) are, and we even understand and know inside out how the NHS works day to day, behind the scenes - we know what effects of this contract will. We did not need a union to tell us that but are very happy that we have a union supporting us and we DO have the right to industrial action. No one has forced anyone to do anything. No country were unions are more demonised. Maybe it IS time to leave.
