Hey, thanks very much,

I shot about 15 across the whole image but then realised that I was just making too much unnecessary work for myself so took every other one, so about 7 in the end. Although it could probably be done with fewer there are not that many keypoints, I found myself hunting out pebbles on the beach!

Its my first attempt at a panorama and I'm quite pleased with it overall (yes, I know there are some pretty big flaws.) It was taken on my new D80 with a cheap Nikkor 18-55 lens (kit lens off my older D50) at about 30mm. Shot taken at Point of Ayr not too far from my home in N. Wales. (that's next door to England for any wondering). Shot last Friday for this exercise, a lucky, cold, clear, November day.

Really enjoying the Meet The Gimp videocasts via Miro and would like to take the opportunity to thank Rolf for his efforts.

Another great panorama. The format really emphasises the isolation of the lighthouse in a way that would be impossible with a standard 2x3 ratio.

wow, excellent. Love the composition.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone. I am always really pleased to receive them.

This panorama emphasizes the loneliness of the lighthouse perfectly. Great job.

If the price would not have been random, I think this would be the winner.

Thanks Serge and Rolf, I feel like a winner now! :-) .

Actually I am currently learning to speak Welsh in night school and there is a Welsh learners Eisteddfod (A cultural festival, Music, poetry, performing arts ect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eisteddfod for more). And one part is a photography exercise to shoot a local building so, buoyed by the positive comments here, I am considering entering this image.

I am currently working on a new version as I failed to save this one any bigger than the one you see here!! Oh yes, I am an idiot!

Thanks again everyone.

wow Welsh Gaelic now here's some dedication, must be one of the most complicated languages in the world. Good luck!

My wife and I are learning very much *spoken* Welsh (not that difficult) and we have learned an amazing amount since we started in October. We do 2 hours on both Monday and Thursday nights plus a couple of hours a week on our own so the pace is pretty quick and you don't have time to forget between lessons!

Mae'n bendigedig!

Hey,
As I'm sort of revisiting this image! I thought I say that I did enter the learners Eisteddfod and actually came first with this image. I think I won a mug. Yn Cymraeg and it changes colour when warm!
Happy Days!
