you're right – it's probably not a great merit 'copiing' other people's work that way – once they had copy-painters in museums (before the invention of cameras) – i've heard there still are a few painters who have the skills to do that (not me). anyway, yes, you're allowed to make fotos in some museums (costs you 100 rubels extra in the russian museum).

oh stefan, NO, i didn't mean in that way! the thing is from the icon it actually looked like a picture, so i was sort of a joke... i think is very neat that you did this close up! it allows us to enjoy details of these pieces of art in a virtually great way... otherwise, would've not be seen, not sure when i could make it all the way to st. petersburg, now somehow, i've been there :) thanks to your pictures
