ABOVE and BENEATH

... there's more to living life than control ...

and the Buddhist tradition, East and West, is very conservative in its approach to authentic emancipation.

... ultimately I believe that all religions end up being bad for people ... I would welcome a far more post-religious 21st century please ...

... William Blake ... "Those who control their passions do so because their passions are weak enough to be controlled."

... As with all religions (I presume) Buddhism has some useful stuff. My entire adulthood is heavily influenced by the importance of THE NOW and BREATH and consciously appreciating the easily taken for granted and abundantly free blah blah.

But I do think the anti-pleasure, anti-passion and anti-attachment stuff is fundamentally toxic, there is too much looking down on pleasure as it is in our society, and all that fundamental Buddhist stuff is too attractive to people who don't want to deal with their body issues, sex issues and so much more. I think Buddhism is too conservative in general. And too full of dangerously displaced delusional egos and therefore mind games.

And too few people are aware of the irrational crap about "proper" sex ONLY being penis and Vagina. No other orifice or body part allowed. That is really toxic. Apparently the Dalai was forced to adjust one of his books for the american market because of its homophobic crap along these lines. His compromise seems to be "it's ok to be gay, but the sex is wrong." oh thanks a bunch.

Too many people are squeamish about sex, and that they'll then encounter that kind of bollocks from the Dalai and the other celebrity celibates really bugs me. ...
