Hi Kharn,

We don't specifically limit bandwidth for accounts, but we have traditionally limited access to accounts using us for content storage (i.e. for animated gifs). 23 is a photo community, not a file or image hosting service -- so as a general rule, if you're looking to host content for other pages or forums, you are probably in the wrong place.

Monthly bandwidth
Hi :)

I'm thinking to sign a premium service with one of the various image hostings as this lovely 23hq, but I have a big doubt regarding the monthly sharing (not uploading) bandwidth you provide, as I can't find anything about this but the warning in the TOS.

Is not like I will upload millions of pics or so (mainly animated gifs from 1 to 4mb, a few dozens per month or so), but a bit of light on this would be apreciated, specially with that scary "or terminate your account" ;D

Also, there is a sharing bandwidth difference on Free vs Premium accounts?

Thanks.

Unfortunately we don't run the spam filters ourselves, instead that's farmed out to Akismet. That's nice for us because it's easy, works well -- and works across sites. Unfortunately it makes it tough for specific people to be unflagged. Sorry about that.

Has been quiet for some time (which I like), but I got a curious comment today, the second one on this photo:
http://www.23hq.com/nachbarnebenan/photo/7603836
I'm having trouble deciding if it's spam or has just been posted to the wrong place.
Maybe looking at the logs if the same comment was posted several times on other users images helps you decide.

iOS actually doesn't support HTML/web upload either, which is the reason why simple upload doesn't work for you. In this case, options could be the Pixelpipe app, e-mail upload through the iPad -- or even tethering your computer to the iPad connection to avoid the landline.

Ipad upload without flash?
Hi,
our landline is so slow that i need like 60 min to upload 10 photos from my DSLR comera...

So having an Ipad with 3g internet speed card... it might take less time and more fun for me.

BUT

I cant upload photos via internet as the ipad has no flash option. The simple uploader doesnt do it for me either.

Its there a way to upload photos via ipad???

cheers,

Yup, the sent out a notice of their closing as well, and the likely outcome will simply be removing us Picnik from our offering by end of March. Unless someone can some up with a viable alternative?

Picnik is closing
As title says Picnik will be dismissed in April by google and it will be included on g+, what to do now? I don't know if there's another service like this, personally I don't use it too much but maybe there are some users that like the possibility to edit picture on line after they have uploaded. Any idea? Flickr removed the service from their pages too.

Badge not showing random photos
My 23 badge, which I slightly modified, in order to show a number of photos variable according to the screen width, works fine on Firefox, displaying a random selection of my public photos.
On Chrome, Explorer and Opera it always shows the oldest photos of my stream. On Safari for the IPad, it crashes the page.
Any clues?

For the geekily inclined: In a recent version of Chrome, the policy on how to serve files with a Content-Disposition header containing spaces. To be fair, this change is in accordance with the HTTP standard, but it threw us for a loop and meant that all uploaded photos where the original file contained spaces were being discarded by Chrome.

Since then, ALL of the photos posted by http://www.23hq.com/Dan-Tuyet display as broken image links. All photos from all other users display properly. As an experiment, I tried Firefox, and Dan-Tuyet's photos display properly. What is it about the specific combination of his photos and the Chrome browser that is causing this?

@nachbarnebenan, a combination of factors actually: We've seen an increase in traffic over the past few weeks, but nothing we should be able to cope with. More relevantly, we've need to run today on much lower capacity than usual, so there's a concrete and tangible reason for the slowdown. (The good news is that this is all part of a bigger plan involving new servers and more hardware.)

However, we really do apologize for the problems today -- and promise to make it better tomorow (or now, even).

slowdowns
Recently, 23 seems to suffer from slowdowns. Especially noticeable is the delay in adding an image to a group, which takes up to several minutes.
Is there something wrong or did I just hit a high load time?

Hi Mrs Sippl

This should be quite simple actually. Either navigate to the photo page and click the small + icon next to Albums in the right sidebar. Or you can find the album page and click the add photos link.

Is that possible?
Can't figure out how...

I recently began participating in Google+ "Daily Photographic Themes." Several themes available for each day of the week, and each has one or more curators. You upload a photo, tag it with the name of the theme, and hope it gets curated onto the theme page.

While I consider it an advantage that users can comment without becoming members, it means that spam is starting to creep again. :(
This time as album comments, which are not as exposed as "normal" comments and which makes me wonder if they're not going through the same filters as other comments or forum posts.
Examples: http://www.23hq.com/nachbarnebenan/album/6913312 and http://www.23hq.com/nachbarnebenan/album/7421818 both probably by the same person.

Steffen, could you please add a "mark as spam" link to album comments as well?
