Any reviews of the Nikon and Sigma 105mm macro?
Hi.
I can not good speak english :(
I have the Nikon D40 too and i have the "AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED". Its a very good objectiv! ....but very high in price.

The Nikkor 105 is razor-sharp, and has such a short DOF that you might need to stop it down quite a bit (which is sort of nice in a macro lens).

One thing to check is if the Sigma has been "chipped" for your camera. If you buy it new this should not be a problem, but if it was made before the D40 was released it might need to be serviced in order for it to work. This is a general issue with all third-party lenses on Nikon equipment.

Both of them are excellent. I have an old Sigma 105mm and it works fine with my D70s. Have a look at http://www.photozone.de/nikon--nikkor-aps-c-lens-tests for details. I think. in terms of price the Sigma is a good choice.

I'm considering buying either one of these two lenses, but I just wanted to know if anyone here have any words for or against them.

I have a Nikon D40 camera right now with a standard 18-55 lens.
