New Year Day's walk
I never do much on New Year's Eve. Not my cup of tea to rejoice on demand. Every year, I stay at home, get myself something nice for dinner and either a nice DVD or a good book. I did the same this year. Had some foie gras, was going to have quail, but couldn't face it after the foie gras, so froze it. ;) And had a good read, Katryn Stockett's The Help, listening to Haydn's The Creation. There were literally crowds on Champs-Elysées, as I walked towards Place de la Concorde. As you can see from the puddles, there had been rain.
I walked along the Tuileries gardens, till I got to the Louvre, and crossed the river to walk along the Left Bank
On this, I used the flash. This graffiti was on the side of one of the bouquinistes stands along the river Seine
Pont-Neuf is one of my favourite bridges. It's usually quite well-lit, and although you can't really see them here, it has numerous mascarons, those faces, usually human, sometimes frightening or chimeric whose function was originally to frighten away evil spirits, says Wikipedia.
