Elaine Cheng ~ working in Human Resources in the hotel industry

民園麵家 : A historical name of a noodle food stall on the Elgin Street in
Central. Due to the license problem, it was finally forced to close down on
30 July 2005. A signature campaign was launched previously with the aim of
the historical preservation of an important Hong Kong food culture.
One of the famous food items of 民園麵家 was beef brisket noodle (牛腩麵). A small kitchen area with all the production made.

We are still have around 30 street food stalls in Hong Kong; and one more
"off" the list as street stall - 民園麵家. Will it say.. "I'll be back" ?

Yes, it finally came back after few months’ goodbye. However, it’s not the
same as it was used to be. It relocated to a shop nearby the old address. We
will always miss the good old days and places.

I want to use my blog to capture some of the beautiful places and moments. Not only the places that i had been visited, but also deliver
message to preserve some heritages of Hong Kong.

We decided to rent a flat on Lamma Island in a small village called Tai Peng Tsuen up in the mountains. This Photo shows the hillside just behind our house.

It shows that Lamma Island is still place without any high rise developments. You can find only max 3 storey buildings here. We use the hills form walking almost everyday. It is great to be able to do that. On the photo I am carrying my son Nelson who was only 8 months old – today he is nearly 3 years old. He grew up on Lamma Island, he learned to walk and he learned to speak here. I hope that this little island will remain a good memory just as it is for me.

Name: Dr. Wong Kowk Choi, Kacey
Age: 36
Occupation: Visual Artist, Teacher

The city of Hong Kong is always physically changing. New buildings are being erected at a rapid rate and shops appear and disappear altering the sights of the city. This changes inspired me to create the Personal Skyscraper project since year 2000 which is a skyscraper costume made by foam board and adhesive tapes. It reflects the fragility of the modern skyscraper, the contemporary modern society, and its people. My intention of this project is to inspire the viewer to be more aware of the architectural environment.

Here is a real story, one day when I was dressing up as a skyscraper walking down Temple Street as an experiment testing the reaction of the people, many people noticed me but some didn't because there was so much other stuff to look at in Temple Street. Then I noticed a shop keeper nearby was looking at me for a while, suddenly as if processed he pointed at me shouted: I know! I know what it is¨ I slowly turned and look at him then he shouted real loud with a smirk on his face: it's art!! I was so proud and touched by his intuitive reply and I slowly raise my hand making a thumbs-up gesture as a reply then slowly drift away into the crowd.

About 12,000 Hong Kong people marching from Victoria Park to the
Central Government Offices, to protest against Japan approved a
of China from 1931 to 1945, including the Nanjing massacre of 1937.

Made in Hong Kong - like the other great cosmopolitan cities of the world, such as New York and London, a not insubstantial portion of Hong Kong's population is transient.

My wife and I are not from Hong Kong, but my son was born here in February 2006 at Matilda Hospital (the setting for "Love is A Many Splendored Thing", one of the more well known Hollywood movies set in Hong Kong and based on Han Suyin's book). May Hong Kong retain its dynamic spirit in 2090 and may he see the changes in Hong Kong at such time and conclude that things are on balance better than they are today.

This solitary Royal Mail post box at the foot of a concrete stairs along Hollywood Road still stands proud and majestic. I still prefer its original grand red colour, though. You can see it peering through that lame green paint wash.

Arnel S. Agawin, Quarry Bay

Going down Aberdeen St. just before you cross Hollywood Road is my favourite fruit juice vendor. He used to occupy the corner across where he is now, besides the Police Quarter's wall, and I lived on a 1st floor flat on the opposite angle. I enjoy watching him everyday from my window with his wife serving their fresh goodies to a regular stream of customers like myself. I hope the ongoing rapid development on his area does not push their kind to close shop.

Chinese New Year - this important traditional celebration, like so many others around the world, has become increasingly commercialized. The mandarin
orange trees are some of the least gaudy and more natural looking of Spring Festival decorations. Let's hope that in 2090, commercialization and materialism
will not have totally ruined the expressions of family and goodwill that the lunar new year is meant to engender.

Stanley's Dragonboat Regatta - this annual commemorative reenactment of the attempted rescue of poet/statesman Qu Yuan has thrived in Hong Kong, withpaddlers from around the world coming here to join locals and new arrivals (like myself) in enjoying this great team sport. Will the pictured child's grandchild
have the opportunity to similarly touch a dragonboat as part of the Tuen Ng festival in 2090 if the water pollution around Hong Kong continues to increase?

Hong Kong skyline - Central's cityscape continuously evolves and changes. This representative view is actually from my living room, but with the current
construction of a neighbouring building, this view will not be the same even in two years time, let alone in 2090. May the city's developers and planners strike
a good balance between the introduction of the new and the retention of the old, and may the smog subside to a level that spares our lungs and continues to allow
us to enjoy the view of this magnificent city.
