Unfortunately there was no audio but the video looked to be very interesting. I cannot be more positive because I could not understand the written language.

It is Slovenian. Sorry
Just be patient and watch it. It gets interesting at the end.

I did watch it and it was really interesting. I think it might be useful if an audio in English could somehow be dubbed on the video.

That is a great idea. And first I thought you would remove red eyes in a very elaborate way. :-)
And again nice girls - it seems all the Gimp families have girls .... ;-)
I think the same effect can be achieved with a layer in "Colour" mode on top. Noted down as a show theme - your way in comparison to the layer way.
May I use parts of your video in the show?

At first I was a bit confused. I am used to the lowest layer being value and did not understand how this could work. After some experimentation, I realized odtenek has to be hue. So the order of HSV in Slovenian is VSH.
Indeed, a nice tutorial. The video quality was very good (1168 x 976!) and the 12 frames per second was barely visible. And now I know also a couple of Slovenian words.
Rolf, I am not sure, should a layer in Colour or Hue mode be compared? In the video all action seems to take place only on the hue channel.

In Hue layer you define the value of color (which color). If you edit Saturation layer you define how much color you will use. And in Value layer you define brightness.
This way in hue layer you can not change color of white and black parts because white and black is defined in Value layer.
