The scene has an air of mystery to it.... Nice catch!

Just a kettle hole, but they are of course always mysterious.
The bottom feaures of the geological interpretive trail at the Tettnang edge of the first XXL edition of lake constance are very much the same as those ice age lake outlines in the Great Lakes region, just the plants and bugs are a bit different. I love this place as it reminds me most of Stoney Creek Metropark, it even got it's own little ancient inland dune. :o)

A long time since I came across the term 'kettle hole'!
A fine shot indeed!

I had to search the term "kettle hole", as I never heard it before. Very interesting.

The German "Toteisloch" is more descriptive, meaning "dead ice hole", refering to the burried and insulated glacier calf melting later that caused the valley bottom to break down there. To me old glacier escarpment rims are a bit like airports -- where ever I move I seem to end up near to one. :o)
