D'Oh a Deer! I came around a corner and suddenly a deer. Seems early in the year to me.

Great capture :)

Thanks Anker. The dark green thing in the BG spoils it a bit but I was so excited I didn't check the background for distracting elements. I can't clone the dark green out because of the high contrast on the hair over the antler knob.

Amazing photo!
I would try to lighten the dark green thing a bit. But it's not really distracting to me. :-)

Thanks guys, it's a good reminder for me to always check the BG.

The dark green thing is a tree or something, no good way to chop it down.

great shot!

Nice capture. Who was more startled? You or the deer?
The green line doesn't distract too much, since all the attention immediately goes to the face (and particularly the ears, I find).

Thanks guys. The eyes are very limpid but I picked this photo because the - very mobile - ears had zeroed-in on me like scanning dishes.

Marco, I was more startled for sure. I was also worried it might stampede me.

I agree that the ears are what make this picture.

Great shot! It should be possible to clone stamp away the leaves in Photoshop or Gimp. Nobody would ever notice you did so because the surrounding parts are blurred anyway.

Thanks guys! @Quantumleaper, better composition would have saved me a lot of problems.

As far as fixing stuff, the less the better, as doing it convincingly is actually a ton of work.

Here the muzzle hairs and the leaf are one. But thanks for the suggestion.
