The building of the new traders hall was started in 1388. Around that time the 14 huge oaks must have been long selected in the forest and cut down so they may dry out completely as not to turn and twist in place as green wood does. and they are really mighty, each must have been a more than 400 year old oak, that means probaply already a young sappling that was around when Hadwig Dux Suevorum, the swabian Hatschepsut, ruled from the Hohentwiel. Just imagine that!
