Feedback & Bugs

Does photogroups work for you?

Jim   April 24, 2006, 07:53 AM

It sounds like a great feature :D

Few small bugs though:
In the Translator's Phtogroup, the title reads: "4 members sharing 0 photos" but in Membrer I only got Steffen.

I clicked the invitation link on the email and joined the Translator's Phtogroup, but I can't see that group in http://www.23hq.com/photogroup.

When posting reply (like the on I'm doing now), after using Tab+Alt to switch between different windows, the textbox got too wide. I'm not sure if it's caused by the goddamn IE 7, but I never had this situation in "Discussion".
I posted a screenshot here.

Jim,
The member listings issue was temporary bug, which has been fixed now. But thanks for reporting is so quickly ;-). This also addresses the listing at /photogroup.

Email alert on new member registration isn't photogroup specific.

edit post gives an error and seem to delete the title of the post?

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   April 24, 2006, 09:27 AM

Wow, we've really gone beta testing crazy ;-)
About the first one, that's not a photogroup reg mail -- that's a site-wide mail telling you that a new user has registered at 23.

The second issues has been fixed, but requires some downtime to effectuate, so it's pending at the moment.

Jim   April 24, 2006, 01:34 PM

I tested the "textbox too wide in 'post your reply'..." issue on another box running IE 6. The problem still exists. And it only happens in "Photogroup", not in other part of 23 like comments or discussion.

zbrox   June 14, 2006, 05:45 PM

Also, there's no real way of finding new photogroups, or at least I haven't found any. When I open the main photogroup page, there are my groups listed and the ones that are popular. How about the ones that are not popular? Maybe some search by tags, description, or something like that... Just a suggestion...

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   June 18, 2006, 04:55 PM

There's still no link directory -- the photogroup feature is still is a sort of pre-beta so it'll still be a week or two before the directory is available.

uaeee   October 01, 2006, 07:07 AM

I can't see any photos in (Photos) section
>_<
and there is no Date/Time Stamp in Conversations

Deeva   February 17, 2007, 06:16 PM

YES, exactly... how about a date/timestamp on conversations/posts? That would so rule... this site is extremely promising! Great work guys!

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   February 20, 2007, 07:43 AM

Dates have been added...

John Grey   June 15, 2007, 01:03 PM

Just wondered if your resizing process sharpened images. Other sites I have used seemed to sharpen too much, but here resized images seem a bit soft.
Would a *little* more sharpening be better?

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   June 15, 2007, 01:07 PM

Hey John,

There are different opinions about this stuff -- it's been discussed a while back here:
http://www.23hq.com/forums/message-view?message_id=514773
I'm unsure about the actual conclusion of the discussion though...

PimpDaddy   June 15, 2007, 01:37 PM

I never really thought about this until John wrote that post. That's why pictures at Fli**r looks somewhat more sharp maybe? I always wondered how that could be, never thinking that it could be the upload service itself could have an effect on this. I too wote for a bit more sharpening :)

John Grey   June 15, 2007, 01:48 PM

It's not really the upload, its the way the smaller versions are generated. I don't think the original should be changed at all. I just think a little more sharpening is needed for the down sized images.
(thanks Steffen, I've added my thoughts to the thread above)

cosmonautirussi   June 22, 2007, 08:26 AM

I would like to suggest a feature where new groups can be found. "Newest public groups". Is there a thread or a place where a promotion for new groups does make sense?

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   June 24, 2007, 02:58 PM

cosmonautirussi,

I've added a list of new photogroups to the PG front page.

cosmonautirussi   June 24, 2007, 03:03 PM

Great Steffen! :)

Philipp Mertens   July 03, 2007, 10:37 AM

you can tag the photos of other users,
why you can't post photos of other users to a group?

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   July 03, 2007, 10:39 AM

@mertens: Because adding a photo to a group potentially changes the permissions on the photo.

Philipp Mertens   July 03, 2007, 10:48 AM

I see! perhaps only the "Public photo"'s.
or is public not public?

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   July 03, 2007, 10:51 AM

Yeah, public is public, sure. But it might not be transparent for a person who didn't post the photo to the group that private is no longer private. Also, the user need to be a member of the given group, which introduces extra difficulty.

OldDragon   July 03, 2007, 11:02 AM

I like it the way it is. I prefer to choose for myself which groups my photos appear in.

Philipp Mertens   July 03, 2007, 11:11 AM

was only one idea that came to my mind

chico75   July 05, 2007, 11:13 AM

could it be that there ist no possibility to remove photos from a group if they don't fit the topic of the group ?

bushgirl   July 07, 2007, 05:02 AM

Chico, why not make a polite request to the photo's author to remove it from the group?

chico75   July 07, 2007, 09:13 AM

one or two times i can make a request. but if you have more groups it takes to long. it would be better just to have a button or link to remove one picture.

Fenja   July 07, 2007, 12:14 PM

I would not be nice to remove a picture without notice. A polite request should do it. But there is a point. If someone floods a group with lots of equal looking or of topic pictures a group owner should be able to remove photos.

chico75   July 08, 2007, 02:58 PM

i agree with you. it is more polite to write something to the photo owner. but what is a group gets realy big ? and you have 10 of these photos a day ? and if you have more than one of these groups ? i have other things to do than to write such requests every day. for me it would be nice to have a delete button / link and the optional posibility to write a short message.

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   July 08, 2007, 03:15 PM

Hi guys,

I'm gonna chime in here. I agree with both of the points of view: Yes, do the polite thing if at all possible. And yes, we need to let admins remove photos from a group. It's on the to do list, but it probably won't be ready for another week or two.

Vincent   September 28, 2007, 03:05 PM

When searching for a photogroup, it says: Søger...

My language is set to English, so I suppose this is a bug :P

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   September 30, 2007, 05:33 PM

Nice catch, Vincent.. It's been changed...

Vincent   September 30, 2007, 05:37 PM

It's easier to catch when you don't speak Danish ;)

Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23   September 30, 2007, 05:38 PM

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Danish imperialism.
