Rusty old Tractor / Rostiger alter Traktor
An other of the little treasures at the farm "Im Sack". Seems to be an early Allgaier AP17, but not in the expected colour. That model was the very first Tractor out of Manzell, already with a Porsche engine, still you rarely see one around Friedrichshafen./ Ein anderes der kleinen Schaetzchen beim Hof in Sack. Ist wohl ein frueher Allgaier AP17, aber nicht in ueblichen Farbe. Dieses Model war der erste Tracktor aus dem Werk in Manzell, auch der erste mit einem Porsche Motor, trotzdem ist er in der direkten Umgebung von Friedrichshafen nicht haeufiger als sonst wo. |

Ferdinand Porsche at first constructed an inovative light motor and some other features for tractor builders Allgaier in 1950, just a few years later his company bought the whole tractor production site from the also still existing Allgaier company and changed the names of the later models based on the AP series into Porsche, just like the worldwide known cars.
Allgaier Company on it's original home at Uhingen and elsewhere still are involved in big business, like in the processing lines department and somesuch, and it seems they own one of the renovated and shiney AP17's for representative purposes. There is a 15 year old photo of their little orange tractor with Mrs. Merkel herself and many other important people online:

Alas in german only a great article on the vehicle, with 3 pics of a finely restored one that left the production line on the very first day...
