B eautiful location; Reminds me of Het Verdronken Land van Reimerswaal (translation: The Drowned Land of Reimerswaal). An area of flood-covered land in Zeeland in the Netherlands. Some of it was lost in the St. Felix's Flood in 1530, and some of it in 1532. The legend says that by storm the clocks of the Reymerswaal tower are still to be heard

Oh, the story is in some ways worse. This flood was manmade, from the apetite for energy by a government that tricked a village of farmers who did not speak their own official language very well as they where fallen out of a country with an other language by a border settlement. So that people could not read a notification hanging out and protest it in time, an intentional scheme. The energy company just starts to excuse and give the villagers some of the earnings from the dam that took their fields and houses in 1950.
There are several places in the Alps where villages got flooded for dam building, and tales about ringing church bells are common with them, but chuch towers that would stand up after flooding for half a century and actually wait for a time when someone would safe them from the foundations going less level in the softened ground are really rare. Some tales are just tales and some got actually old photos from a few years after flooding the dam lake before their tower vanished, but this tower did stay on. A sign of really great craftmanship.

Sounds as the story about the Chinese Three Gorges Dam.
