If I got the story right, the new Margrave as a business man did rue the money to pay for the regular upkeep and the needed structural renovations, wanted to sell the liabillity to a private investor who in turn did not want to keep the public museums in it, so when we moved into the area it looked less imposing, but felt about everyone in europe and half of the other continents went to take the tour as it was uncertain if the access to gardens, grand hall and some sidebuildings with exhibits like old firefighters equipment would still be open to the public to see for long. Then the state decided to protect the heritage at all cost and legal means, topedo any lucrative sale but buy most of it as cheap as possible, indulging the previous owner with more than fair conditions. The old man with true interest in tradition and history and sentimental feelings for his birthplace, who however had already passed on the title and family business, may reside with his wife as long as they live, and the family business who of course kept all their area vine hills and brand name rights for those can rent the vinothek and cellars back super cheap, so they can still claim that the wine had been resting below the building on the bottle and use it all for their products image, the museum parts are still shown to the public for a fee and the tax payers in the state shell out most of the money so it looks neat and falls not down on top of all the tourists, the poor Von Baden's, their fermented grape juice and everything else. -- LOL
