Schwansee Parque / Schwansee Park

A landscape architect with the unspeakable name Sckell created the Endglish Garden in a wetland below Hohenschwangau still in the times of Ludwig's dad, when Neuschwanstein did not stand up there / Ein Landschaftsarchitekt mit den kaum artikulierbaren Namen Sckell kreirte den Englischen Garten im Filz untehalb von Hohenschwangau fuer den Vater vom Ludwig, bevor Neuschwanstein an seinem Platz stand.

Yes, from afar it looks regal, lonely and serene. The castle villlage is however a sight to behold like an anthill, many busses full of humans all over the main attractions even in winter.

That main attraction looks best in autumn and winter, though ;) The scenery surrounding it has the same "problem".... I think that's why there is really no "off season" for tourism ;) I think the locals get so used to the scenery that it no longer impresses them and they take its beauty for granted.

Well, I was born at day-trip distance and at most stages in life had at least a second abode in dayrip distance, yet I rarely even got the oportunity to take castle pics from afar. There is almost no free legal parking anywhere in places where you need no binocs to see Neuschwanstein and the road traffic in summer is hellish and still increasing. Having incidently a notary appointment in Fussen one monday this last december and the need to stay over in a hotel anyway made my husband consent to stay in a less overpriced hotel that is walk-to-the-castles for the ablebodied and less phlegmatic for the whole weekend. Still I had no chance to get in for a tour, so much people waiting for tickets it seemed not worth the wait, especially as we both had of course been in once, at an age when one is as bavarian youngster driven through by the teachers with the whole class and the clearest memory of all the high culture to stay is about sitting in the bus and singing the great toiletpaper song.... LOL
