Pilaster Detail / Halbsaeulendetail

The society website talks of "female angels" but frankly -- what ever this buxom creature sans wings and with all the veggies in a conspicious place may be , I'd not call it exactly an angel. I am mostly intrigued by the split roots. Are those mandrakes or thought people back then the propper way carrots and parsnips should look is just like mine? And the thing in the middle, the cut huge one below the pear, asides from obvious freudian suggestions, what would that be? Oriental pomgranates should be quite exotic then and sure no local produce, Pumpkins where also some barely known new world vegetable in the early 16th century. Citrulles? But those also could not grow at Lake Constance.
